Slow Food Boston is proud to announce as part of our series of summer farm tours in partnership with the Culinary Guild of New England, the South Coast Tour de Farms is open for registration! Join us and other fellow food lovers this July in exploring the agricultural scene and visiting local farms and food producers along the southern coast of MA in South Dartmouth and Westport. Learn about what's being grown in the region, get to know the local farmers in the area, hear their stories and discover how they started, and enjoy an idyllic 15-mile bike ride along small roads of the south shore as you tour each farm. Enjoy lovely afternoon refreshments at one of the farms and get acquainted with other members of the Slow Food community.

In each entry, Chris will also share great tips on how to turn these tasty garden treats into delectable gourmet eats, including long-lasting preserves that can brighten up a dish and give it that special kick! ![]() As gardening season kicks off under Slow Food Boston’s theme Boston Grown this year, we’re happy to introduce the Slow Food Boston Gardening Series, a blog series about gardening from one of our very own members, Chris Kieffer, who offers us a first-hand account on gardening as a novice and learning about the joys (and “growing” pains) of starting a vegetable garden for the first time. While documenting his progress, Chris will also share personal insights and lessons learned, valuable tips on how to grow seasonal greens, and offer delicious recipes for your eating pleasure. From seedling to supper, we’ll learn about gardening do’s and don’ts, discover the rewards of growing your own greens organically with a little backyard care, and get a deeper understanding of what it takes to turn a tiny seed into a dinner delight. Even if you’re not a farmer, a local producer, or a home cook, anyone who shares the Slow Food values of eating “good, clean, and fair” can grow your own food with zero miles from source to plate – these are some of the things we want to highlight this year. Visit our Blog next week to check out the first installment! |
